Why does Downey continue to sell more Toyota Leaf Spring Assemblies than all other companies combined? Simple, nobody else has the buying power we do! Other companies must buy from smaller spring manufacturers who lack our capabilities, or they must cut back on spring features. Their cut-backs have resulted in a product that is significantly inferior to original equipment (no safety features, no anti-dive features, etc.). To sell the best, you must manufacture the best! Here's the deal; you get Downey's 3" lift front springs, Downey's 3" LONGER RUBICON SPRING SHACKLES,taller Ford weld-on upper shock towers, and ultra soft 13" travel MV-12 shocks that open up to 31" long. Longer leaf springs provide dramatic ride improvement and increase suspension travel. Downey has later model rear spring assemblies that are 51” long, provide 2½” of lift, and can be installed on 79-97 4WD Pickups and 4 Runners (when using Downey’s new weld-on spring hangers) to replace existing 43” long springs. Front hangers will reposition approximately 2” forward and rear hangers will reposition approximately 4½” rearward. The long travel rear spring kit is available in two packages:

Sloped Hangers - Installing longer rear springs requires moving the front spring hangers forward on the frame. The factory hangers are too thin to cut off and reuse. These hangers weld under the frame, forward of the stock units. Made from ¼” plate steel, much stronger then stock hangers. 18mm bolt holes. Unpainted finish. |

Shackle Hangers - If you’re installing longer rear springs you will need to relocate your rear shackle mounts. You can do this by cutting off the original hangers with a die grinder and installing new hangers. Our shackle mounts use OEM bushings and are much stronger plate steel. Unpainted finish. |

3 Hole Spring Perch - When installing 4” plus rear leaf springs, it’s best to rotate the pinion so it points directly at the rear transfer case output flange, and use a CV style drive shaft. The best way to rotate the pinion is to cut off the old perches and weld on a new set at the proper angle. Normally the spring pin is installed in the center hole, but you can also move the rear axle forward or backward 1” by using the optional holes. Made from ¼” plate steel. Unpainted finish. |

Crossover Steering is critical for rock crawling. The stock steering just can't keep pace with today's super flexible suspension systems. This results in broken stock steering arms and loss of steering. Our high steer kit features unbeatable quality at a super low price. Kit features super beefy, solid forged steering arms, heavy duty pitman arm, heavy duty .250 wall steering rods, and FJ-80 greasable tie rod ends. Precision fit for easy assembly. Can be used for 79-85 Pickup and 86-95 Pickups/4 Runners with straight axle conversion. 79-85 trucks use early style box but later style box can be used if you wish. Early style fits 86-88 Pickup and 86-89 4 Runners. Late style box fits 89-95 Pickup and 90-95 4 Runner. All boxes are completely rebuilt with new seals and bearings. Each is tested before shipping. 79-85 4WD Pickups are going to need an IFS steering box mount including inner and outer reinforced plates, grade 8 bolts, DOM tubing, and crimp nuts. |

For 36 years we have sold heavy duty spring shackles with a welded-in gusset; the gusset locking both vertical side plates together to form a bullet-proof spring shackle. Downey spring shackles are constructed with 2” by thick steel plates, then silver zinc plated, and include hardened mounting bolts and self locking nuts. |

Downey now has a whole new spring shackle concept for serious off roaders! We retain the heavy duty 2” wide by thick steel plates, but we omit the gusset. WHY?, because we have proven that when there is radical spring twist (as on the Rubicon trail) the spring will destroy the outer collars of the spring bushings if the two shackles plates cannot move independently of each other. |
