The following adjustment can be used to richen or lean the air/fuel mixture from the factory setting. This adjustment could be necessary when using a Big Bore Throttle Body or other EFI modifications. The mass air sensor (MAS) is found on top the air cleaner canister on 1985-95 Toyota vehicles. The sensor is an aluminum housing with black plastic lid. Cut the seal holding the black plastic lid in place. Gently pry the lid from the housing. To adjust, first mark the original location of the hold-down clamp on the gear wheel so you can return to stock setting if necessary. Loosen the clamp screw and rotate the gear wheel a few teeth as necessary. Clockwise leans the mixture, counter-clockwise richens the mixture. After adjustment, replace the top plastic lid (see Warnings below).
 
  WARNING #1 - Use caution when cutting the top lid seal with a hobby knife so that plastic lid is not cut or damaged.
WARNING #2 - DO NOT let spring loaded gear wheel unwind, you will not be able to find stock setting/home base.
WARNING #3 - Ensure you establish a good seal when replacing top lid, moisture can destroy the sensor electronics.
WARNING #4 - DO NOT use an adhesive which creates a gas or fumes when drying, fumes will coat and destroy the sensor electronics – you’ve been warned!
 
 
 
   
 
What does an 8 H.P. gain at 4000 RPM feel like? Your normal power peak is 3600 RPM (normal shifting point). It will now move up to 4000 RPM with a come-alive power surge between 3500 and 5500 RPM. These results are not achieved by polishing alone. Each port is balanced by removing more material from one runner than the other until all four runners are perfectly flow matched. Downey must receive your 2 piece intake manifold in good condition.

Downey’s invented Landcruiser 6 cyl. Fuel Injection during the late 1990’s. Our first kits didn’t work real well because we were trying to make them too economical; if it cost too much knowbody would buy it. When we couldn’t solve smooth drivability and idle function problem, we decided to quit worrying about cost, and include 1,000% of everything that would have been found in a 4.3 GM vehicle. After reaching perfect drivability, we now have to sit back and watch the .com’s advertise their “Econo kit’s”, absolute pieces of incomplete crap! One of our customers bought a competitors kit. Downey offers the “Adapter Only”, which includes casting, laser cut throttle body block off plate (also used for throttle cable mounting), and mounting bolts and gaskets. Downey also offers a “Complete Installation Kit” that includes; completed adapter, O2 senor and bung, temp sensor and adapter, knock sensor and mounting plate, map sensor, vehicle speed sensor, 15 psi fuel pump and filter, check engine light, cable linkage mounting hardware, 10 hose clamps, and a PVC hose adapter.

If you had perched an HEI distributor from DUI for your carbureted Landcruiser 6 cyl., it can be returned to DUI and converted to a Fuel Injection distributor with built-in coil and ignition module for about $125. If you are using a 1978-87 Landcruiser distributor, you will need this GM coil and ignition module, necessary to control idle functions and automatic choke (all functions below 2 m.p.h.)

Most of the plug fittings you will need for your Landcrusier fuel injection conversions will be built into your engine harness, or they can be simple push-on female ends. These two coil plugs fit the unique GM coil listed above; they interlock onto each other and lock onto the coil.
