This bellhousing adapts the 1985-newer Toyota 5 speed transmission with removable bellhousing to the Buick 231, Chevy V-6 , or Chevy V-8 engine. The bellhousing also includes a special shift fork, shift fork pivot ball, pilot bushing, and front splash shield. Buick 231 and Chevy V-8 conversions should require transfer-case relocation, Chevy V-6 conversions should not.  
  NOTE - If using 1999+ Vortec engine with crank shaft pilot hole at 1.707", you will use pilot bushing that is included with bellhousing, plus adapter sleeve #16155 (not included).  
  NOTE - If you are using any late model engine with aluminum oil pan, you will need 168 tooth flywheel with 10 1/2" clutch bolt pattern installed (listed below). This will also require use of a small High-Torque starter, www.powermastermotorsports.com

  This adapter is 1 thick, it mounts and aligns a TH350, 700R4 or 4L60E automatic transmission to a stock 4 cylinder transfer-case. Downey’s output shaft must be installed into your transmission, this then eliminates the need for a particular 2WD or 4WD transmission, plus it leaves the transfer-case in the stock location on Buick and Chevy V-6 conversions on 79-83 year models. T.C. must be 79-84 carbureted or 85-88 EFI only (not 85+ carbureted).

  This adapter is 3.375" long, it mounts and aligns a TH350, 700R4, or 4L60E automatic transmission to a stock 85-95 4 cylinder transfer-case, carbureted or EFI. Your TH350 tranny should be out of a 4WD vehicle, with the short output shaft. If not, Downey can supply the 4WD short shaft (not included) for your 2WD transmission. 700R4’s require a custom made Downey shaft which is included with 700R4 adapters.

  The earlier 4L60E transmissions looked identical to a 700R4, same length, same 4 bolt pattern at the tail housing, and the early 4L60E’s used the 700R4 transfer-case adapters. The later model 4L60E’s have been made 1.5” shorter and have a larger 6 bolt tail housing. Downey does not manufacture a dedicated adapter for the later 4L60E’s, but we do manufacture this special companion adapter that bolts onto the 6 bolt tranny, extends rearward 1.5”, then accepts any of the 700R4 adapters offered by Downey for Pickup, 4 Runner, or Landcruiser.

  We saw the first 23 spline Transfer-case input gears in the mid 80's behind 4 cyl. Turbocharged engines. These stronger gears are also interchangeable into 21 spline 4 cyl. gear driven Transfer-cases when retaining the original 2.28 gear ratio (which should also be the front case in a dual Transfer-case arrangement).
