	So the dealer talked you into a new 4WD Toyota truck with ADD (automatic differential disconnect). Now you find yourself contending with performance loss, mileage loss, additional wear on your 4WD components (even in 2WD), and significant limitations on suspension travel and lift. Even worse, there’s no inexpensive way to install unlocking hubs on your ADD vehicle. Downey has taken a couple steps toward bringing down the price tag of converting from ADD to unlocking hubs:
	First, we established ties with the off-shore suppliers of the components needed for this conversion. Second, we assembled a bare-bones conversion kit, it does not include items from your present ADD system that can be reused with the manual hub system (i.e. you can reuse original axle shafts and wheel bearings.
	Now your 1996-newer TOYOTA truck can accommodate up to 31/2” of suspension lift with virtually no CV joint buzz at freeway speeds, and you’ll get better mileage to boot!

Pickup & 4 Runner – All 89-95 models with ADD (Automatic Differential Disconnect) have a whole new reason for installing manual hubs. These models are not equipped with locking hubs, consequently the CV joints spin whenever the vehicle is in motion. If the suspension is cranked up slightly the CV boot angle is increased and constant RPM will destroy the boots (usually within 10,000 miles). Manual hubs will completely eliminate the highway RPM, and lower off road RPM will not be detrimental to boots. Plus you’ll enjoy the sudden surge is gas milage and performance when the hubs are unlocked. ADD models DO NOT need the Hub installation kit listed below # 43279.

The nicest feature is the new gold zinc plated rounded allen head cap screws (allen wrench included) that recess into the hub so they are not vulnerable to rock damage like the stock hex heads. Stock inner felt plates are thin and easily damaged by rocks. These are heavy duty rings made from 1/8” (.125) material. Stock covers are just .40 thick. That’s over three times thicker than stock! Rock Ring Kit

The brake backing plates can be a hassle on 79-85 Toyota solid axles. They often get bent from trail damage, and small rocks can get trapped between the backing plate and the rotor causing noise and damage. This kit contains two spacer rings that take the place of factory backing plates. The rings are the same thickness as stock for proper component spacing. Installation is easy, simply remove the stock backing plate and replace with our rings.

These bolt-on wheel spacers are designed to give your rig a little more width without exchanging your axle for a wider one. Great for use on solid axle conversions to make the front 79-85 wheel stance similar in width to the wider rear axle on 86+ trucks. Bolt pattern is 6-stud on 5.5” round circle. The 6-lug pattern fits 4WD Toyota Pickups, Tacomas, Tundras, 4 Runners, FJ40, FJ60, FJ80 and FJ Cruiser. Made from 6061 billet aluminum and includes the highest quality grade 8 studs and nuts. 	Your stock 1986-95 IFS front axles are intended to ride at an 18° angle. You could crank-in too much lift causing the axles to ride at their 22° maximum. The 22° angle may not destroy the CV joints, but it will eventually destroy the CV boots. Here's the remedy: new patented neoprene CV boots. The OE boots are manufactured from "thermoplastic hytrel" which is thin, deforms, and stiffens with age. Neoprene boots stay soft and remain bendable for a much longer cycle life. Each boot includes CV grease, stainless steel clamps, and easy-to-follow instructions.

Not only are the factory boots poo-poo (thin, brittle, and crack easily), but the Tundra inner CV boots get pinched between axle and CV boot mounting ring---absolutely bogus!! Downey has developed a new Tundra inner CV boot that mounts onto the axle as usual, then mounts onto the 4” outer diameter of the CV joint instead of the smaller boot mounting ring---easy deal.

	These are economical replacement outer Birfield Joints and complete Axle Assemblies. They have been made slightly tougher than stock while ideally remaining the weak link. They are not the $250.00 each “indestructible” Birfields that let you blow the crap out of your expensive differential gears and lockers. 1979-85 P.U. and 1975-87 Landcruiser complete axles include inner axle and outer Birfield pre-assembled. All other units include complete axles with inner and outer CV joints and CV boots pre-assembled.

Replacement axles are becoming harder to find in junk yards due to the high demand for Toyota parts. Downey now offers replacement rear axles at a great low price, just $65 per side. High quality precision machined. Stock Toyota shaft breaks at 6500 ft. lbs. of torque. Downey's heavy duty axle shafts will break at closer to 7500 ft. lbs. of torque. Application to fit 1979-1995 Toyota Pickups and 4 Runners.

Radical suspension modifications, shackle reversals, or spring-over conversions could all require greater drive shaft slip yoke travel than Toyota made available. Downey has manufactured adapters to adapt 7” travel Spicer U-joints/Slip Yokes to Toyota transfer-case and differential flanges. Each kit includes the appropriate adapter and bolts, complete spicer u-joint, 7” travel male and female slip yoke, and weld-on adapter ring to bring the spicer shaft up to the Toyota drive shaft tube I.D.

Stock Toyota slip yoke splines are 3½” long, the long travel slip yoke splines listed above are 7” long, and these “Extreme Travel” slip yokes have a 12” long spline (19” long over-all with u-joint). Extreme slip yokes are 23% stronger than stock splines, and they are best suited to the longer rear drive shafts on Toyota 4WD Pickups because of their excessive length (could be cut down for use on shorter drive shafts). Cutting and welding is required for installation. The u-joint has a 60mm x 60mm bolt pattern that should be a direct fit on 84-88 Pickups and 91-97 Landcruisers (no adapter needed).

This Landcruiser aluminum finned rear differential cover is made from 356 aluminum with a T-6 heat treat for strength and durability. These covers are not only attractive, but they have a larger oil capacity for improved lubrication and heat absorption, and the aluminum finned design helps dissipate heat. This new kit includes a special hose fitting for the differential housing, a breather hose with mounting bracket, and a special one-way breather valve similar to the original valve.
